Using the PERRLA Add-in for Microsoft Word
The PERRLA Add-in for Word is installed directly inside Word through the Microsoft Word Add-in Store. Here's how to get started:
- Open Microsoft Word.

Go to the Home ribbon tab.
In older versions of Word on Windows, the Add-ins option is in the Insert ribbon tab. -
Select Get Add-ins.
If your screen is smaller, you may need to click Add-ins first, then select Get Add-ins from the dropdown. - Search for PERRLA.
- Click Add.
The first time you add PERRLA, it may take a few seconds to load. Once loaded, you'll see a tooltip for the PERRLA ribbon tab.
The PERRLA ribbon tab should appear in any Word document going forward. If it doesn't, click Add-ins in the Home ribbon tab, click My Add-ins, and select PERRLA.
Using PERRLA in iOS
You can use the PERRLA Add-in with Microsoft Word on your iPad.
- Open Word on your iPad.
- Go to the Home tab.
- Click Add-ins on the far right.
- Select See All at the bottom of the menu.
- Scroll down and press Add beside PERRLA.
This will open the PERRLA side panel inside Word.
Unlike the desktop version of Word, PERRLA on iOS doesn't include its own ribbon tab. You'll have access to everything through the side panel and menu button.

PERRLA Online is a web application accessible from any browser. We recommend Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
