PERRLA Online checks your paper for spelling issues as you type, so mistakes are easy to catch and fix without leaving the page.
How Spell Check Works
Spell Check runs entirely in your browser – your writing is never sent to a third-party service to be checked. Misspelled words are underlined in red. Hover over an underlined word to see suggested corrections, ignore it, or add it to your dictionary. See Managing Your Dictionary and Formatting Checks (Online) to learn more about managing the words you've added.
Reviewing All Suggestions at Once
Instead of finding each flagged word one at a time, you can step through every spelling suggestion in your paper from a single pop-up.
-
Click the red Suggestions notification at the bottom of the Editor.
Or click Edit in the menu bar, then click Start Spellcheck. - Choose the correct spelling, Ignore, or Add to Dictionary for the flagged item shown.
- Click the arrow to move to the next flagged item.
PERRLA jumps to each flagged word's location in your paper as you step through the list.
Turning Spell Check On or Off
- Click Edit in the menu bar.
-
Click Disable PERRLA Spellcheck.
If Spell Check is already off, this option reads Enable PERRLA Spellcheck instead.
When Spell Check is off, the underlines disappear from your paper.
Using Grammarly with PERRLA Online
The Grammarly plug-in works with all PERRLA Online paper types. If you use both PERRLA Spellcheck and Grammarly at the same time, you can turn PERRLA's checker off from the Edit menu so the two don't conflict. See Using Grammarly with PERRLA (Online) to learn more.
