PERRLA Online lets you combine multiple citations from different references into a single merged citation.
How to create merged citations
You can create a merged citation by placing your cursor inside an existing citation and then creating the citation you want to merge into it.
- Create a citation using the References & Citations panel.
-
After the first citation is made, select the citation in the text.
You should see the Content Control box (blue/gray) around the citation. - Use the References & Citations panel to create your second citation.
- Repeat as needed.
PERRLA will automatically merge the citations, sort them in the correct order, and list the merged citation under each reference in the References & Citations panel.
Editing or deleting merged citations
Once a merged citation has been created, it will be listed under each of the references included in it. For example, if the citation merges works by Pack and Nixon, you'll find the merged citation beneath both the Pack and Nixon references.
To edit or delete part of a merged citation, select it under the appropriate reference in the panel. For instance, to remove Pack from the merged citation, delete it under the Pack reference. PERRLA will update the citation and leave the Nixon part in place.
If you double-click your citation, you can change which citation you're editing using the dropdown at the top of the Citation panel.
