Once you've added citations to your paper, PERRLA gives you tools to find, edit, and delete them directly from the References & Citations side panel.
Showing and Hiding Citations
By default, PERRLA hides citations inside their reference in the References & Citations side panel to keep the view clean and easy to navigate.
Click a reference to show or hide its citations. You can also click the three dots next to the reference and choose Show Citations or Hide Citations.
Finding a Citation in Your Paper
Once you have more than a few citations, it can be difficult to find where they are in your paper. PERRLA can find any citation for you. Here's how:
- Click the three dots next to the citation you want to find.
- Click Show in Paper.
PERRLA scrolls to that citation in your paper and highlights it.
Editing a Citation
Because citations are locked inside Content Controls, you'll need to edit them through PERRLA.
- Click the three dots next to the citation.
- Click Edit Citation.
- Update the citation's information.
- Click Update Citation.
PERRLA automatically updates your citation.
Note: In PERRLA Online, you can also right-click a citation directly in your paper to choose Edit Citation without opening the panel.
Deleting a Citation
You can also use PERRLA to delete citations from your paper. When you delete a citation through PERRLA, it's automatically replaced with the text "(CITATION DELETED)" so you always know where it was and don't accidentally plagiarize content.
- Click the three dots next to the citation.
- Click Delete Citation.
PERRLA deletes the citation and replaces it with the (CITATION DELETED) text.
